R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the Pflugerville Police 
Department, Oscar Lopez of the Criminal Investigations Division has 
set high standards of professionalism to which all in the field of 
law enforcement may aspire; and
	WHEREAS, This dedicated officer is widely known for going 
above and beyond the call of duty in his service to the people of 
Central Texas; steadfast and sincere, he pays close attention to 
and follows up on every detail, and makes a personal commitment to 
solving each case that comes his way; and
	WHEREAS, In recognition of his exceptional work, he was 
accorded the 2004 Andrew Hoskins Memorial Award; Detective Lopez, 
like the officer for whom the award was named, is known for his 
ever-present smile and his willingness to lend a hand wherever help 
is needed; and
	WHEREAS, A 1986 graduate of Bastrop High School, Detective 
Lopez is the loving father of a teenage daughter, Autumn, and an 
active member of his community; he lends his time and talents as 
sergeant-at-arms of the Pflugerville Police Association and as a 
director of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Board, 
which is currently dedicated to raising money for the Juvenile 
Diabetes Foundation; and
	WHEREAS, Oscar Lopez continues to distinguish himself as a 
public servant of immense ability, and the citizens of his 
community may rest assured they are being well-served when this 
outstanding officer is on the job; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Detective Oscar Lopez of the Pflugerville 
Police Department for his admirable contributions to the field of 
law enforcement and extend to him best wishes for continued 
success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Detective Lopez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
