R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, Rolando Molina has served with distinction as band director at H. M. King High School in Kingsville; and WHEREAS, Mr. Molina graduated from H. M. King High School, where he was an All-State band member; he earned three degrees from Texas A&I University--Kingsville, touring Europe for 10 weeks in 1970 with the Texas A&I Singers; and WHEREAS, During his outstanding career at King High School, Mr. Molina has led the high school band to 10 UIL state marching contests, two state finals, and 10 Grand Championships at invitational contests; over the years, he has taught 50 All-State and seven All-American band members, and his students have garnered more than 1,000 UIL medals in solo and ensemble contests; he also led the King High School jazz band to claim the Grand Champion trophy at the A&I Jazz Festival in the early 1980s; and WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Music Educators State Board for 20 years, he has served as president of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and has been an officer of Region XIV for more than 20 years; he also has shared his time and expertise as a band clinician and an adjudicator in Texas and Florida for more than 25 years; he is a member of the John Philip Sousa Foundation and has played with the Beto Leal Orchestra for more than 40 years; in addition, he belongs to Phi Beta Mu, a national honorary bandmasters fraternity, and he serves on the Young Band Master of the Year selection committee; and WHEREAS, Active in the Kingsville community, Mr. Molina serves as an assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop No. 144, and he belongs to the Knights of Columbus Council 2623, where he is a fourth-degree knight; and WHEREAS, This outstanding band director and esteemed educator exemplifies the highest standards of his noble profession, and he is most deserving of special recognition for his achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Rolando Molina for his outstanding 35-year career with H. M. King High School and extend best wishes to him for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Molina as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
