R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
console the family and friends of Crisanta Garcia Lopez, who died on
March 21, 2005, at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 3, 1911, in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon,
Mexico, Mrs. Lopez was the last survivor of 18 children born to
Nazario Hinojosa Garcia and Margarita Perez Garza; and
WHEREAS, A 63-year resident of Robstown, she attended Saint
Anthony's Catholic Church and belonged to the Catholic Daughters of
America, American G.I. Forum, and Senior Citizens Organization; she
became interested in politics in the 1950s and was an active worker
in many campaigns for Democratic candidates; she was also the
recipient of the 6th Annual Honorary Historian Award presented by
the Robstown Area Historical Commission; and
WHEREAS, A loving and inspirational matriarch to a large
family, Mrs. Lopez played a positive role in the lives of those
individuals who were fortunate enough to have known her, and her
spirit will continue to live in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Crisanta Garcia Lopez
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
children, Fidencio Lopez, Jr., and his wife, Lupita, Mary Haecker,
Heriberto Lopez and his wife, Diana, and Diana L. Silvas and her
husband, Raul; to her grandchildren, Fidencio Lopez III, Marcos
Lopez and his wife, Janna, Omar Lopez, Victor Alvarado and his wife,
Martha, Angela Lopez Garcia and her husband, Ray, Brandon Silvas,
Andrew Silvas, and Bianca Silvas; to her seven great-grandchildren;
and to her other relatives; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Crisanta
Garcia Lopez.
