H.R. No. 983
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with meaningful
accomplishments and joyful moments may comfort the family and
friends of Oscar L. Ramirez, Sr., of Roma, who died on March 23,
2005; and
WHEREAS, A humble man who enjoyed motorcycles, horseback
riding, and Quarter Horse racing, Mr. Ramirez raced horses that
were known in both Mexico and the United States, and one of his
beloved horses, Santo Nino, was named Horse of the Year during the
first year of racing at the Nuevo Laredo racetrack; and
WHEREAS, He was also a talented musician who played the piano
and guitar; as a teenager, he sang for a radio station in Mexico
City, and while stationed in Laredo during his early career in
customs, he sang for the Laredo Queen; and
WHEREAS, A devoted father and husband, who cherished his
family and friends, Mr. Ramirez will be sorely missed by all those
who were privileged to know and love him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Oscar Ramirez and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
Mabel B. Ramirez; to his sons, Oscar Ramirez and his wife, Maria
Teresa, George Ramirez and his wife, Cindy, and Jackie Ramirez and
his wife, Becky; to his sister, Nelly Gomez; to his grandchildren,
Oscar Ramirez III, Jose Alexandro Ramirez, Luis Carlos Ramirez,
Veronica Lisa Ramirez, Bianca Lizette Ramirez, John William
Ramirez, and James Michael Ramirez; and to his other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oscar L.
Ramirez, Sr.
