R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sebastian Zarate of Laredo is making incomparable contributions to the breeding of Azteca horses in the Rio Grande Valley, and his efforts and achievements are most worthy of special recognition; and WHEREAS, As a horse expert for the Mid–Valley Stables in Mercedes, Mr. Zarate focuses on the proper selection of the Azteca, a crossbred horse with Andalusian and Quarter Horse bloodlines that is noteworthy for its strong bone density, ability to maintain in the air, and iron-like hooves; he is the only person authorized by the International Association of Mexican Azteca Horse Breeders to approve, value, and register Azteca horses in the United States; and WHEREAS, This esteemed trainer and breeder has taken his team to perform at the Houston Livestock Show and to participate in the Rose Bowl Parade, and he is scheduled to perform three shows at the 16th Annual Rio Grande Valley Onion Festival, sponsored by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Weslaco, on April 2, 2005; and WHEREAS, In addition to serving as a trainer for the Azteca horse ranch, founded by Ruben Cardenas, Mr. Zarate teaches numerous students the technique and discipline that it takes to communicate with and understand the horse and to engage in healthy riding; and WHEREAS, Sebastian Zarate's skillful work with Azteca horses brings wide attention to this beautiful breed, and it is most appropriate to recognize him for his unwavering commitment to the highest standards of achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Sebastian Zarate for his dedication to the breeding and training of Azteca horses and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Zarate as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
