R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Two students from the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District represented their schools at the 2005 UIL State Wrestling Championships in Austin, and it is a pleasure to recognize these dedicated athletes at this time; and WHEREAS, Freshmen Jennifer Gonzalez of PSJA Memorial High School and Kimberly Galvan of PSJA High School competed in the 95-pound weight class and were seeded 3rd and 4th, respectively, among their peers in the state; they were the only female wrestlers from the Valley to participate in the 2005 tournament; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez, who advanced to the second round of the championship competition, finished the regular season with a 4-1 record, while Ms. Galvan posted a 7-7 record to gain an invitation to the state meet; and WHEREAS, These dynamic student-athletes have earned the respect and admiration of their many supporters in the community, and they are most deserving of special praise for reaching the state tournament; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Jennifer Gonzalez and Kimberly Galvan for advancing to the 2005 UIL State Wrestling Championships in Austin and extend to these young women best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Galvan as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
