R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students' Association (CHLSA) has provided a vital support system for Hispanic students attending The University of Texas Law School; and WHEREAS, This exemplary organization is consistently one of the largest student groups on campus; averaging 100 members, it also holds the distinction of being one of the largest Hispanic law student groups in the nation; and WHEREAS, All areas of the Lone Star State are represented in CHLSA's diverse membership, with each student bringing a distinctive vision to the organization; the group offers its members the chance to partake in a number of worthy programs, including 10 Interns/10 Clerks, which encourages Hispanic students to seek judicial internships in the hopes that participants may one day become law clerks and judges; and WHEREAS, In CHLSA, students find a network of talented and ambitious peers who may further enrich the academic experience at UT by providing unique perspectives in all aspects of law school life; and WHEREAS, Mindful of its responsibility to positively impact the Hispanic community in Texas, CHLSA continues to improve opportunities and provide an important voice for its members; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students' Association for the significant contributions it has made to enhance the education of its membership and to encourage the continued advancement of Hispanic members of the legal profession in Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
