R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Midland residents Warren and Carol Hastings 
commemorated the memorable milestone of their golden wedding 
anniversary on January 30, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, To celebrate this joyful occasion, the couple 
renewed their vows and were the guests of honor at a special 
reception held on January 29 at the Hilton Midland Plaza; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Hastings and the former Carol Carpenter were 
united in matrimony on January 30, 1955, and have since enjoyed a 
loving marriage that has been blessed with three children, David 
Hastings, Bill Hastings, and Carren Hancock, as well as seven 
grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Valued citizens of Midland since 1968, the pair 
retired from successful careers; he was involved in oilfield sales 
and she was employed by Southwestern Bell and was involved in real 
estate and commercial property management; remaining active in 
their community, Mr. Hastings enjoys membership with the Permian 
Basin Oil Burners and Mrs. Hastings participates in the Midland 
Quilters Guild; and
	WHEREAS, The enduring union of Warren and Carol Hastings 
serves as a genuine source of inspiration to those with whom they 
have shared the richness of their lives, and it is a pleasure to 
recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Warren and Carol Hastings on their 
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness together; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hastings as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
