H.R. No. 1029
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may comfort the family
and friends of Bill J. Immel of Kerrville, who died on March 20,
2005, at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Immel was born on October 25,
1928, in Kress, to proud parents Joseph and Addie Immel; shortly
after his arrival, his parents bought a ranch near Higgins, and he
grew up in the wide open space of Texas ranchland in the company of
his four siblings; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Immel attended Wayland Baptist University,
received both bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State
University, and enrolled at the University of Chicago for
postgraduate studies; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of a career dedicated to the
education of Texas children, he taught math in Panhandle, served as
principal of Pearsall High School and Uvalde High School, and was an
assistant principal in Kerrville; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his notable contributions as a
teacher and administrator, Mr. Immel was an ordained deacon with
Trinity Baptist Church and a member of the Kerrville Rotary Club;
and
WHEREAS, Bill Immel touched the lives of countless
individuals during his lifetime, and he will long be remembered
with special fondness by his former students and with love and
affection by his wide circle of family and good friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill J. Immel and
extend sincere sympathy to his wife, Carolyn Immel; to his
daughter, Deanne Immel; and to his other relatives and many
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill J.
Immel.
