R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life of joyful moments and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of John Richard "Jack" Furman III, who passed away on March 20, 2005, at the age of 68; and WHEREAS, Born on January 7, 1937, in Victoria, Mr. Furman attended Tivy High School and The University of Texas and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve; in 1960, he joined his father to work for the family business, Dick Furman Insurance Agency; and WHEREAS, An active member of First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville, Jack Furman was a man of deeply felt faith who was committed to serving others; he was a former member of the Kerrville City Council and was both mayor pro tem and mayor of Kerrville; he also distinguished himself as a hardworking member of the Upper Guadalupe River Authority Board, the Kerrville Public Utility Board, and the Kerrville Economic Development Foundation, and he was a longtime member of the Kerrville Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, A loving father and husband, Mr. Furman was a highly respected leader in his community, and he will be deeply missed by all those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jack Furman and extend sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Jo Ann Furman; to his daughter, Laura Furman Singleton and her husband, Greg; to his mother-in-law, Alta Bridges; to his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Laura Bridges; to his nephew, James Allen Bridges; to his cousins, Bill Furman, Dick Eastland and his wife, Tweety, Stacy Eastland and his wife, Tara, Nancy Leaton and her husband, Barry, Seaborn Connally and his wife, Andrea, and Frank Connally and his wife, Susan; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack Furman.
