R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jim Jackson of Rockdale achieved an impressive
success in the sport of horse racing when his horse,
Yessirgeneralsir, was named the 2004 Texas Horse of the Year in the
Older Horse division by the Texas Thoroughbred Association; and
WHEREAS, The association is the largest state breed
organization of its kind in the country, and it recognizes six Texas
champion racehorses each year; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson bred the gelding on his Valhalla Farm,
which includes more than 600 acres and a six-furlong training
track; trained by Dallas Keen, Yessirgeneralsir was the only
Texas-bred horse to win a graded stakes event in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Owning a racehorse that is named a champion by the
Texas Thoroughbred Association reflects many years of dedication to
the racing and breeding industry in Texas; since 1983, Jim Jackson
has bred and developed outstanding Thoroughbreds, and his
commitment to the sport is truly inspiring; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Jackson on his horse's
selection as a 2004 Texas champion by the Texas Thoroughbred
Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success in the field of horse racing; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
