R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Friendswood High School Academic Decathlon Team 
won its 13th consecutive state championship in February 2005, and 
it is truly a pleasure to welcome and commend these fine young men 
and women on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol; and
	WHEREAS, The team competed in 10 diverse subject areas, 
giving members the opportunity to demonstrate the broad scope of 
their knowledge; topics ranged from such traditional fields of 
study as math, science, and literature to such contemporary 
categories as speech, interview, and Super Quiz; and
	WHEREAS, Members of this exceptional group include Scott 
Manusov, Micah Fessler, Sarah Stapp, Trey German, Richard Arduengo, 
Eddy Stevens, Ling Wang, Charlie Lundquist, and Kieran Fitzgerald; 
the students were ably assisted in their efforts by coaches 
Katharine Christy and Kady Schmidt, whose dedication and support 
were instrumental in the team's success; and
	WHEREAS, The 2004-2005 Academic Decathlon Team is a source of 
great pride to the faculty, staff, and students of Friendswood High 
School, and their first-place win at this year's state competition 
is indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Friendswood High 
School Academic Decathlon Team and their coaches on winning the 
2005 State Academic Decathlon Championship and that they be 
extended sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in 
all their future endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
