H.R. No. 1058


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Five decades of marriage is truly a reason for celebration, and on May 6, 2005, Dr. Don K. Hamblen and Beverly Hamblen of Richmond are marking this memorable milestone; and WHEREAS, Dr. Hamblen and his bride, the former Beverly Chastain, met at South Main Baptist Church in Houston and on May 6, 1955, they exchanged wedding vows in a ceremony held at the church where they first met; and WHEREAS, Through the years, the Hamblens have nourished a fulfilling relationship built on a solid foundation of mutual love, trust, and respect; the couple have been richly blessed with four children, Beverly Hamblen, Elizabeth McCain, Jeanne Gilbert, and Don Hamblen, Jr., and their joy has multiplied with the addition to the family of five grandchildren, Nicole Bowles, Jessica and Tabitha Hamblen, and Ricky and Carrie McCain; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamblen has been a dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, creating a warm and supportive home life for her family; moreover, she has shared her time and talents with the successful operation of her husband's dental office for 35 years; and WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army who attained the rank of captain, Dr. Hamblen graduated from The University of Texas Dental School and he has practiced dentistry in Houston for more than 45 years; and WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have happily shared the trials and triumphs of marriage and parenthood, and it is a distinct pleasure to join in honoring them on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby offer warm congratulations to Dr. Don K. Hamblen and Beverly Hamblen and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. and Mrs. Hamblen as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
