R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, March 2005 marked the opening of the new Alamo Public Library, and this exciting occasion is indeed worthy of special recognition; and WHEREAS, With double the square footage of the old facility, the new library features a reference area, computer stations, and private study rooms in addition to its extensive selection of books; its unique inventory also includes early editions of poetry collections by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Alfred Tennyson, as well as a tribute to local poet and former library employee Sean McKelvey; and WHEREAS, The Alamo Public Library makes an inestimable contribution to the residents of its region; under the leadership of director Victoria Gonzalez, it will undoubtedly continue to provide its same high quality service in its new location across the street from the original facility; and WHEREAS, An inspiring affirmation of the community's commitment to learning, the Alamo Public Library is a shining symbol of education and culture, and it is indeed a pleasure to join the citizens of Alamo in celebrating the opening of this fine new library building; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the new Alamo Public Library and extend to all associated with this institution sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Alamo Public Library as an expression of the sentiment of the Texas House of Representatives.
