R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Teo Garcia of El Paso was recognized for his
outstanding service to the community when he received the Martin
Luther King, Jr., Humanitarian Award for kindness toward others and
volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Son of proud parents Jorge and Maria Garcia, this
outstanding high school senior at Chapin High School is a cancer
survivor who has volunteered during the past 10 years for the
Candlelighters organization and has also assisted with its Walk of
Hope; in addition, Mr. Garcia has helped to organize Veterans Day
ceremonies for the past two years at his school and has served as a
mentor at Fort Bliss to help acclimate new students at Chapin High
School; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia has demonstrated an unwavering
commitment to the betterment of the lives of his fellow Texans, and
his receipt of the prestigious Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Humanitarian Award is a fitting recognition of his exemplary work;
he is both a role model for other young people and a source of
tremendous pride to his family, school, and community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Teo Garcia for his receipt of the Martin
Luther King, Jr., Humanitarian Award for his service to the
community and extend to him sincere best wishes for future success
and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
