R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The El Paso Public Library and the El Paso Parks and 
Recreation Department are sponsoring one of the nation's most 
impressive celebrations of Dia de los Niños/Dia de los Libros on 
April 30, 2005, in Washington Park; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1997 on the suggestion of El Paso writer 
Pat Mora, the event is intended to promote literacy and education 
among young people, regardless of their social, cultural, and 
economic backgrounds, and this year's attendance is expected to 
approach approximately 40,000 celebrants; and
	WHEREAS, The scheduled activities in Washington Park include 
a parade, an appearance by special guest Ms. Mora, a book 
distribution, games, and live musical entertainment; and
	WHEREAS, Dia de los Niños/Dia de los Libros is a noteworthy 
community event that reflects the deep commitment of the citizens 
of El Paso to their youth; it is a pleasure to play a small part in 
this special day by commemorating its importance, honoring its 
guests, and commending its hosts; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Dia de los Niños/Dia de los Libros on April 
30, 2005, and extend to all of the celebration's participants 
sincere best wishes for an enjoyable event.
