R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sydney Matlock of Wichita Falls has won the 2005
Scripps-Howard Regional Spelling Bee, and her impressive
accomplishment is well-deserved given her skill and dedication to
her studies; and
WHEREAS, A student at Kirby Junior High School, Miss Matlock
outperformed a field of many talented and hardworking participants,
and she will represent her region for the second time in three years
at the annual national spelling bee in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Supported in all that she does by her parents, David
and Paula Matlock, this outstanding young Texan has demonstrated
exceptional intelligence, determination, and maturity in
successfully pursuing her goals, and it is truly a pleasure to honor
her at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Sydney Matlock on winning the
Scripps-Howard Regional Spelling Bee and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued success at the national championships and in
all her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Miss Matlock as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
