R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The members of the Wichita Falls Kiwanis Club are 
sharing the joy of reading with area youths during the month of 
April by hosting "Read Around the World" at the city's public 
library; and
	WHEREAS, Designed to promote child literacy, this beneficial 
program is implemented annually by Kiwanis clubs in 94 nations 
across the globe; members work to achieve the program's worthy goal 
by first reading to children, then by providing them with free books 
that they can enjoy repeatedly; and
	WHEREAS, The Wichita Kiwanians sponsored their observance of 
"Read Around the World" at the Wichita Falls Public Library on April 
2, 2005, by distributing free books to young Texans between the ages 
of four and 12 who were able to leave the library with smiles on 
their faces and a ticket to new and engaging worlds in their hands; 
and
	WHEREAS, Strong reading skills are crucial to academic 
success, and by helping to instill in children a love of reading at 
a young age, the Kiwanis Club is making a sound investment in the 
future of tomorrow's leaders; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor the members of the Wichita Falls Kiwanis 
Club for hosting "Read Around the World" and extend to them sincere 
best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
