R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Throughout our history, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the spirit of free enterprise have been the cornerstones of this nation's economic development; and WHEREAS, Recognizing that these qualities are as important to the future of the United States as they have been in the past, Junior Achievement has been a tireless promoter of the free enterprise system and an educator for the leaders of tomorrow since its inception in 1919; and WHEREAS, Junior Achievement employs a combination of traditional classroom learning and valuable hands-on experiences to help students from kindergarten through high school gain an appreciation of the role played by economics in our daily lives; and WHEREAS, With nine offices in the Lone Star State and 16,000 dedicated volunteers from all walks of life, Junior Achievement has reached more than 350,000 students statewide; and WHEREAS, By informing young Texans of the importance of free enterprise to the well-being of our state and nation, Junior Achievement is helping to ensure their future success as business and community leaders; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby recognize April 12, 2005, as Junior Achievement Day at the State Capitol and encourage all Texans to foster economic education among our youth.
