H.R. No. 1124


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country are truly deserving of the gratitude of their fellow Americans, and Captain Lyle Gordon was one such individual; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Midlothian High School and Texas A&M University, Lyle Gordon determined after graduating from college that he wanted to be a helicopter pilot with the United States Marine Corps, and he dedicated himself to that goal with his characteristic intensity and focus; and WHEREAS, In September 2004, Captain Gordon was sent to Iraq, where his optimism and sense of purpose were welcome assets, and he maintained a positive outlook despite the great personal risk he routinely faced; and WHEREAS, Captain Gordon's passing is a cause for great sadness; his was a life lived fully and well, and the example he set of integrity and determination will shine on brightly in the hearts of all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Captain Lyle Gordon and extend sincere sympathy to his family: to his wife, Kaci Yates Gordon; to his parents, Dickey and Mary Gordon; to his brother, Boyd Gordon; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain Lyle Gordon.
