R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The El Paso Lighthouse for the Blind has honored
Preston "Rusty" Hooten for sterling work performed in support of
the agency's philanthropic mission; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1934, this notable organization
offers training, resources, and services that provide the blind and
visually impaired with access to the opportunities and quality of
life available to everyone around them; its programs include
on-the-job training and employment, youth activities, low-vision
and ocular services, Braille classes, transportation, counseling
and peer support, and computer technology training, in addition to
instruction in orientation, mobility, and independent living
skills; and
WHEREAS, Preston "Rusty" Hooten has rendered exceptional
service in behalf of the El Paso Lighthouse for the Blind and has
truly been an asset to the group; energetic and capable, Mr. Hooten
is a deserving recipient of the Professional Staff Excellence
Award; and
WHEREAS, For seven decades, the El Paso Lighthouse has
provided essential services to the visually impaired of Southwest
Texas, and its contributions to the community have been
immeasurably aided by the outstanding efforts of this dedicated
individual; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Preston "Rusty" Hooten on earning
the Professional Staff Excellence Award from the El Paso Lighthouse
for the Blind and extend to this fine Texan sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hooten as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
