R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Maria del Carmen Torres of Mercedes has made 
extraordinary efforts in behalf of the children of her community 
that are most deserving of special commendation; and
	WHEREAS, Known for her cheerful disposition and 
characteristic optimism, Mrs. Torres has been a volunteer with the 
Mercedes Independent School District since 1994; and
	WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan is currently volunteering at John 
F. Kennedy Elementary School, where she has made a positive 
difference in the lives of its many students and earned the lasting 
respect and admiration of all who are privileged to know her; and
	WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most valuable 
resource, and by giving of her time and talents to serve the youth 
of Mercedes, Mrs. Torres has invested in not only the future of her 
community, but also that of her state; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Maria del Carmen Torres on her volunteer 
work with students in Mercedes schools and extend to her sincere 
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Torres as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
