R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
temper the profound sadness that the passing of Maria Belia Gordon
brings to all who treasured her love and friendship; and
WHEREAS, A native Texan and lifelong resident of Alpine, Mrs.
Gordon was born on October 28, 1932, to Jose and Michaela Martinez,
and passed from this life on February 4, 2005; and
WHEREAS, She deeply cared for her family, including her
husband, Lewis B., and their eight children; through the years,
this respected matriarch happily welcomed two more generations of
descendants into her close-knit family; and
WHEREAS, The heart of a circle of loved ones, Maria Belia
Gordon was a blessing in the lives of countless individuals, and the
memory of her devotion will long be held in the hearts of those
fortunate enough to have known her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Maria Belia
Gordon and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to
her husband, Lewis B. Gordon; to her children, Rita, Jessica,
Donna, and Rudy Gordon, Ramona Gordon-Moore, Lupe Rodriguez, Lorina
Klingemann, and Michael Martinez; to her 14 grandchildren; to her
six great-grandchildren; to her nieces and nephews; and to all who
mourn the passing of this cherished woman; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Belia
Gordon.
