H.R. No. 1154
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jimmy Owens, an Alpine native, passed away at his
home in Forney on June 1, 2002, at the age of 65, and it is
appropriate to honor the memory of this longtime law enforcement
officer at this time; and
WHEREAS, The son of the late Arthur Owens and Avora Owens, who
was the Brewster County clerk for many years, Mr. Owens was a member
of Alpine High School's Class of 1955; a retired investigator for
the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, he also had served
his fellow citizens as a member of the Capitol Police in Washington,
D.C.; and
WHEREAS, This proud Texan held the respect of his friends,
family, and colleagues, and although he is deeply missed, his
legacy of personal and professional success lives on; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmy Owens and extend
sincere sympathy to the family and friends of this esteemed
gentleman; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jimmy
Owens.
