R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On this day, students involved in the Empowering Teen Leaders program of the Urban Youth Development Program of the Texas Cooperative Extension are visiting the State Capitol, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to this outstanding endeavor; and WHEREAS, The program seeks to create a learning experience that is stimulating and satisfying to all aspects of a student's nature and to help young urban Texans develop life skills and form attitudes that will enable them to become self-directed and productive members of society; and WHEREAS, Moreover, these vital efforts promote active contribution to civic life and encourage teens to make a positive impact on their community through volunteering; to that end, participants take part in a Government in Action interactive learning experience, meeting with elected state officials and experiencing the legislative process firsthand; and WHEREAS, The high school juniors and seniors present today join a select group of students that have previously received this training, and through their involvement, these young role models are demonstrating great initiative and maturity; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the members of the Empowering Teen Leaders program for their commitment to working for a brighter future for Texas and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
