H.R. No. 1171
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2005 marks the 75th anniversary of the
Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, and this important occasion
indeed merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1930 as the North Texas Oil and Gas
Association, the organization was conceived by a group of about 50
independent oil producers to protest a drastic price cut in crude
oil; three years later, the West Central Texas Oil and Gas
Association was formed to better serve that region of the state; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers was created
in 2000 when the two groups merged, and today the alliance is one of
the largest oil and gas trade associations in the country, boasting
five offices and more than 2,500 members; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Texas Alliance of Energy
Producers has worked to represent the needs of this essential
industry and to educate the public about the importance of the oil
and gas industry to our state and nation, and it is appropriate to
take this opportunity to congratulate its members as they celebrate
75 years of rich history; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with the Texas
Alliance of Energy Producers on its 75th anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
