R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, March 9, 2005, was truly a momentous day in the long 
and happy life of Julia Odom of Gladewater, for on that day, she 
celebrated her 110th birthday; and
	WHEREAS, Having lived in three different centuries, Mrs. Odom 
has witnessed many remarkable changes and marvels since her birth 
in 1895, including the invention of the airplane and man's walk on 
the moon, as well as the proliferation of the Internet and cell 
phones; and
	WHEREAS, This lovely Texan married William Eli Odom on 
November 25, 1911, and has called Gladewater home since 1933, when 
she and her husband arrived in the East Texas town to operate a 
combination grocery store and gas station; and
	WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Odom has been blessed with 
three children, five grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four 
great-great grandchildren, and seven great-great-great 
grandchildren, and she takes great pride in her role as the beloved 
matriarch of a warm and loving family; and
	WHEREAS, Julia Odom is an inspiration to all who are 
privileged to know her, and she has blessed the lives of countless 
individuals with her generosity and kindness; it is indeed a 
pleasure to recognize her at this time for 11 decades of life well 
lived; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Julia Odom on her 110th birthday 
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Odom as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
