H.R. No. 1195


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nancy David and Solomon D. David, Jr., have contributed greatly to the New Braunfels community for more than four decades, and their achievements have set a high standard of civic engagement to which all may aspire; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. David first arrived in their adopted hometown in 1959, and since that time, this remarkable couple have raised three sons, Darrell, Allen, and Earle Wade, and amassed a record of public service that has earned them the respect and admiration of all who know them; and WHEREAS, Prominent in the field of real estate, S. D. David has lent his time and talent to serve his fellow citizens in myriad ways, having shared his leadership as president of the Canyon Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, the New Braunfels Rotary Club, the Wurstfest Association, the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, and more; he has also played a vital role in the economic and civic development of this Central Texas town as a member of the Charter Study Commission, as chairman of the Board of Equalization for the New Braunfels Independent School District and the Comal County Central Appraisal District, and as a director of the New Braunfels First National Bank; and WHEREAS, For his tireless service, Mr. David has been honored with a host of accolades, such as the Chairman of the Board Award in the area of economic development, the Hall of Honor Award, the Silver Unicorn Award, and the Besserung Award; and WHEREAS, Mrs. David's distinguished record of involvement is also impressive and includes service as a board member of Hospice, Planned Parenthood, and the New Braunfels PTA; a life member of the local chamber of commerce and a founding regent of the area Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, this esteemed woman has been a fund–raiser for such worthy institutions as the Sophienburg-New Braunfels Archives and Museum of History and the Museum of Texas Handmade Furniture and Heritage Society, and her nurturing wisdom and counsel have positively affected the lives of countless artists, musicians, and young women; and WHEREAS, For all she does in behalf of local organizations and institutions, Mrs. David has been recognized with the Hall of Honor Award and the Chair of the Board's Award for community service; and WHEREAS, In addition to their numerous civic contributions, the Davids are valued members of St. Joseph's Anglican Church, where he has served the congregation as a senior warden; and WHEREAS, Through their dedication to the betterment of their community, Nancy and S. D. David, Jr., have earned a special place in the hearts of many New Braunfels residents, and the couple's shared belief in the importance of volunteerism is both admirable and inspiring; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Nancy and S. D. David for their outstanding civic leadership and community service and commend them for their many good works; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. David as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
