H.R. No. 1196
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brian Evans of Austin, who has served his country
with distinction in Iraq, is a source of great pride to all who know
him; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Motor Transport Division Marine Wing
Support Squadron 272 based out of New River, North Carolina, Lance
Corporal Evans led convoys into Turkey, Kuwait, Jordan, Baghdad,
and Fallujah, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his mission
throughout his time overseas; and
WHEREAS, This proud recipient of the Eagle Scout Award joined
the Marine Corps soon after his 2003 graduation from Anderson High
School; Lance Corporal Evans received training in mobile mechanics
and motor transport at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and his hard
work and dedication earned him the Marine of the Month award in May
2004; currently enjoying a brief stay back in the states, he is
scheduled to be redeployed to Iraq in August 2005; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to Lance
Corporal Evans and to all of the country's military personnel, for
they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and
they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure; and
WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and
this nation, Brian Evans embodies the highest ideals of the United
States armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to join in
welcoming him home; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Brian Evans for his exemplary commitment
to his family, his community, and his nation, and extend to him
heartfelt best wishes for success and happiness in the coming
years; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for United States Marine Lance Corporal Evans as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
