R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Crystal Hocutt is graduating as valedictorian of the Celeste High School Class of 2005, and she is to be commended for her dedication and determination in attaining this important honor; and WHEREAS, Ms. Hocutt's outstanding academic performance has earned her numerous awards throughout her high school career, including medals in geography, chemistry, Spanish, and algebra, as well as certificates in calculus, U.S. history, biology, geometry, art, and English; a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and the National Honor Roll, she had an impressive record of success in computer applications and science competitions at the 2005 District UIL Meet; and WHEREAS, This remarkable young lady has excelled outside the classroom as well, distinguishing herself as a member of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America for four years and serving as vice president of Points for one year; she has also participated in the dance team, the Beta Club, the High School Aerospace Scholars Program, the Awanas, and the softball, track, and basketball teams; and WHEREAS, She has demonstrated her commitment to her community by contributing her time and talent to a number of political campaigns, acting as a page at the 2004 Texas Republican Convention, and serving as a peer tutor; her accomplishments are all the more remarkable in light of the fact that she has in the meantime held down a job at an area restaurant for nearly three years; and WHEREAS, A source of tremendous pride to her family, Crystal Hocutt has earned the respect and admiration of her friends and classmates at Celeste High School, and her accomplishments have ensured her a future that is truly bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Crystal Hocutt on being named Celeste High School's 2005 valedictorian and extend to her sincere best wishes in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Hocutt as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
