R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who demonstrate great courage in
emergency situations are truly deserving of our admiration and
gratitude, and Carmenita Littlejohn of El Paso is one such
individual; and
WHEREAS, A teacher at Montwood Middle School, Ms. Littlejohn
was accompanying sixth-grade students on a walking field trip when
a driver lost control of his car, which veered directly toward the
group; and
WHEREAS, Reacting quickly, Ms. Littlejohn rushed straight
into the path of the speeding vehicle to push two students to
safety, striking her head in the process, but downplaying her
injury so as not to further scare her students; and
WHEREAS, Her selfless act of heroism most assuredly saved the
lives of two of her students, and in acting as she did, Ms.
Littlejohn distinguished herself as a remarkable member of her
community and earned recognition from the El Paso Area Chapter of
the American Red Cross; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Carmenita Littlejohn of El Paso for her
heroism and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Littlejohn as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
