H.R. No. 1200
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who demonstrate great courage in
emergency situations are truly deserving of our admiration and
gratitude, and Robert Andrew Tarango of El Paso is one such
individual; and
WHEREAS, On August 21, 2004, this brave citizen entered a
burning apartment building at great personal risk to evacuate an
elderly bedridden woman trapped inside; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tarango broke a bedroom window to carry the
woman to safety, the whole while battling intense heat and smoke so
thick as to completely eliminate visibility; and
WHEREAS, His extraordinary act of heroism gave the woman a
chance to survive this terrible tragedy, and in acting as he did,
Mr. Tarango distinguished himself as a remarkable member of the
community and earned recognition from the El Paso Area Chapter of
the American Red Cross; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Robert Tarango of El Paso for his heroism
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Tarango as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
