H.R. No. 1204
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, David Nabhan has distinguished himself as a great
lover of language and a formidable competitor with his winning of
the 2005 El Paso Times Spelling Bee, a victory he secured with his
correct spelling of the word, "rejuvenescent"; and
WHEREAS, An eighth-grade student at Desert View Middle
School, Mr. Nabhan entered this spelling bee contest for the first
time as a third-grader; his expertise and ability have continued to
grow through the years as a result of the 90 minutes he devotes each
day to the study of spelling; and
WHEREAS, Those young people who set a goal for themselves and
work hard to achieve it may look to the future with anticipation and
optimism, for they will surely go far in this life; with this
significant accomplishment, David Nabhan has secured his stature as
one such individual, and for his efforts he has earned a copy of the
Webster's unabridged Third New International Dictionary, the
Samuel Louis Sugarman Award, and an expense-paid trip to compete in
the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate David Nabhan on winning the 2005 El
Paso Times Spelling Bee and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success at the national competition; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Nabhan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
