R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Those Texans who demonstrate great courage in 
emergency situations are truly deserving of our admiration and 
gratitude, and Gloria Ramos of El Paso is one such individual; and
	WHEREAS, On January 24, 2005, Ms. Ramos heard a loud crash 
outside her home and on investigating found a police patrol vehicle 
on fire; and
	WHEREAS, Seeing that Officer Calvin Green was trapped inside 
the car, Ms. Ramos braved the flames to help the badly injured 
officer free himself before calling the emergency in and returning 
to the scene with her own water hose to help douse the burning 
vehicle; and
	WHEREAS, This selfless act of heroism gave the law 
enforcement officer a stronger chance of survival, and in acting as 
she did, Ms. Ramos distinguished herself as a remarkable member of 
her community and earned recognition from the El Paso Area Chapter 
of the American Red Cross; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Gloria Ramos for her heroism and extend to 
her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
