H.R. No. 1207


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who demonstrate great courage in emergency situations are truly deserving of our admiration and gratitude, and Alfredo Aguirre, Alejandro Gutierrez, Albert Rosales, and Saul Sanchez-Lira of El Paso are four such individuals; and WHEREAS, On January 30, 2004, these heroes entered a burning neighbor's home at great personal risk to evacuate the people still inside and attempted to contain the fire using their own water hoses; and WHEREAS, Even after fire-fighting professionals arrived on the scene, the four continued to assist in the rescue attempt, despite their lack of training and professional equipment; and WHEREAS, Their selfless acts of heroism gave several people a chance to survive this terrible tragedy, and in acting as they did, these valiant men distinguished themselves as remarkable members of their community and earned recognition from the El Paso Area Chapter of the American Red Cross; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Alfredo Aguirre, Alejandro Gutierrez, Albert Rosales, and Saul Sanchez-Lira of El Paso for their heroism and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for each of these brave individuals as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
