H.R. No. 1212
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ouisa Davis has been a tireless advocate of the
immigrant population of El Paso and has aided countless individuals
in becoming United States citizens; and
WHEREAS, This notable Texan currently serves as an attorney
and the executive director of Diocesan Migrant and Refugee
Services, an agency of the Catholic Diocese of El Paso that is
dedicated to providing assistance to those attempting to navigate
the often complicated and costly immigration and citizenship
processes; and
WHEREAS, Under the exemplary leadership of Ms. Davis,
Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services is able to help 5,000
families a year, offering much needed counsel and legal
representation; and
WHEREAS, In a city where one in 10 families is in mixed
immigration status, El Paso has a great need of the assistance of
such dedicated individuals as Ouisa Davis, whose efforts have
indeed brought assistance to thousands; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That Ouisa Davis be commended for her achievements
as executive director of Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services and
that she be extended sincere best wishes for continued success in
her important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
