H.R. No. 1222


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Bill and Joyce Stribling of Burleson have made an indelible impact on their community, and their neighbors bid them a bittersweet farewell as the couple embark on a new chapter of their lives; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Stribling are retiring to College Station, near their youngest son, but their involvement in the civic affairs of Burleson will not soon be forgotten; and WHEREAS, Born near Sulphur Springs, Bill Stribling is a lifelong educator who earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce; he served as a classroom teacher and principal before becoming superintendent of four different school districts; the couple moved to Burleson in 1971, when Mr. Stribling accepted the position of superintendent of Burleson Independent School District, and his vast influence on area schoolchildren eventually led to the naming of William Stribling Elementary School in 1998; and WHEREAS, Always supported by his wife of nearly 55 years, Mr. Stribling is a dedicated community leader who has had a major hand in fund-raising for Harvest House, an organization that assists needy families with food, clothing, and utilities; he is also past president of the Burleson Area Retired Teachers Association and past chair of the Burleson Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Steadfast and encouraging, Joyce Stribling is a behind-the-scenes person who always provides her family and friends with support and a strong shoulder to lean on; she is known for her cooking, and many in the area will continue to enjoy her special recipes for percolator punch and lemon buttermilk pie; and WHEREAS, The Striblings, whose family includes their sons, Randy and Danny, their grandchildren, Michael Stribling, Casey Chaney and her husband, Trey, Scott Stribling and his wife, Shelley, and Brandon Stribling and his wife, Tara, and their great-grandchildren, Macy Sims, McKenna Sims, Garret Chaney, Madeline Stribling, and Anna Stribling, may be moving to a new town to be near some of these family members, but their extended family of friends and neighbors will always make sure that they also have a home in Burleson; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Bill and Joyce Stribling for their contributions to the community of Burleson and extend to them sincere best wishes for much happiness in the next chapter of their lives; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Stribling as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
