R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Community Action Social Services and Education, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides social services, including case management, utility assistance, rent and mortgage payment, housing counseling, and referrals, to the residents of Maverick County; and WHEREAS, Founded in 2000, CASSE, Inc., operates in collaboration with the Maverick County Hospital District and United Medical Centers; this partnership is called La Central, and it is the first integrated eligibility and service delivery system of its kind in the state of Texas; and WHEREAS, CASSE, Inc., is governed by a tripartite board of directors comprised of elected officials, representatives from underprivileged communities, and civic, business, religious, educational, and law enforcement leaders; the members of the board are: President Rogelio Flores, Vice President Oscar Barrientos, Secretary Margarita S. Rosales, Treasurer Alma Martinez, Parliamentarian Juan Montanez, Rogelio Menchaca, Rafael Chancey, Raul Martinez, Jose Andrade, David Saucedo, Cesar Flores, Jose Sifuentes, Mary Jane Salgado, and Rudy Heredia; in addition to the expertise provided by the board, the organization also benefits from the guidance of attorney Heriberto Morales, Jr.; and WHEREAS, With a notable commitment to the community, CASSE, Inc., has made important contributions in the lives of countless area residents, and all those associated with this outstanding organization are truly worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Community Action Social Services and Education, Inc., for its invaluable service in behalf of people in Maverick County; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
