H.R. No. 1246
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of The Woodlands Highsteppers drill team
have distinguished themselves in national competition, and these
outstanding young Texans are truly worthy of special recognition;
and
WHEREAS, Vying for honors in the Champion Dance Nationals
Drill Team Contest in Orlando, Florida, the Highsteppers
out-performed teams from eight states and Canada to receive the
highest all-around score and earn the title of Grand Champions; and
WHEREAS, This notable group was also awarded first place in
all-team and officer events in the categories of kick, prop, and
open, with the ball routine receiving the highest score of all other
performances at the highly competitive contest; and
WHEREAS, Ably led by director Deanna Smith, The Woodlands
Highsteppers demonstrate great commitment, strength, and talent as
they represent the Lone Star State, and it is indeed appropriate
that they be commended for their achievements; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands Highsteppers on
being named Grand Champions at the Champion Dance Nationals Drill
Team Contest and extend to all those involved with the group best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for The Woodlands Highsteppers as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
