H.R. No. 1249
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, "Celebrating Unsung Committee Chairs" is the theme
of the May 7, 2005, 40th Founder's Day celebration of the Houston
Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD); and
WHEREAS, Organized in 1965, the Houston group is one of 125
chapters chartered by the national nonprofit TLOD organization that
was founded in 1964; and
WHEREAS, The Bayou City chapter initially focused on
developing a Top Teens of America chapter, and today, it continues
to emphasize scholarship and to aid teens in becoming successful
participants in a global society; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, TLOD chapter members have
expanded their vision to include the status of women, senior
citizens, community beautification, and community partnerships as
areas of focus, and they have collaborated with Top Teens of America
on such endeavors at the local and national level; additional
projects supported by the Houston membership include the United
Negro College Fund, NAACP, National Council on Negro Women, and
literacy; and
WHEREAS, The dedication, perseverance, and hard work of the
members of the Houston Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.,
have contributed greatly to the community and this state, and it is
a pleasure to honor the members of this fine organization at this
special time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Houston Chapter of Top Ladies
of Distinction, Inc., on its 40th Founder's Day event and extend to
all concerned best wishes for a memorable and meaningful
celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
