R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, David Winston Wofford is retiring from his position as attorney for the State Board of Medical Examiners on May 1, 2005, bringing to a close an outstanding career in public service to the United States and the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Wofford has served his country in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, and he has worked for the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Youth Commission, and the State Board of Medical Examiners; and WHEREAS, This esteemed public employee grew up in Amarillo, attended Amarillo College, received his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University, and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wofford has traveled widely during his life, forming lasting relationships with friends in Japan, Puerto Rico, and England, while maintaining close connections with his family and friends in West Texas; and WHEREAS, An exemplary member and ordained elder of University Presbyterian Church in Austin, Mr. Wofford expresses his steadfast and loving faith through actions of compassion and kindness, as well as through his contributions to social ministry, and strives to promote peace and respect for all; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating his commitment to valuing his family above all material effects, Mr. Wofford has consistently provided stability, love, and guidance for his wife, Suzanne, his children, Erik and Bethany, his parents, Leatrice and Winston, his brother, Marvin, and the members of his extended family; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wofford looks forward to many years of sailing in the Caribbean, continuing to contribute to his community in Austin, and enjoying good music, food, and friendship, and it is a pleasure to wish him well in these endeavors; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor David Wofford on the occasion of his retirement from the State Board of Medical Examiners and commend him for his many years of service to the State of Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
