R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas welcomed the Uncompromising Courage art exhibition to the grounds of the State Capitol on April 7-11, 2005; and WHEREAS, This impressive collection of oil paintings was previously displayed at the National Arts Club in New York City, the Rayburn Congressional Office Building in Washington, D.C., the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, and the Thompson Centre in Chicago, as well as throughout Canada, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, and Korea; Austin was the first city in the State of Texas to host the exhibition; and WHEREAS, Many of the show's viewers have expressed admiration for the technical skill of the featured artists, whose work is inspired by Falun Dafa practitioners in China; the collection includes the work of many renowned artists, including Canadian sculptor Kunlun Zhang, who experienced torture inside China's labor camps; and WHEREAS, Visitors have been moved by the courage of those who are steadfast in their beliefs, upholding ideals of goodness and maintaining an unwavering dedication to nonviolence and truth; the artwork reveals the serenity and hope in people's hearts and symbolizes a bold stand against brutality; furthermore, the exhibition vividly educates its audience about tyranny and reaffirms our country's founding principles of democracy and freedom; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the Uncompromising Courage art exhibition and pay tribute to all those who display great fortitude in the face of tyranny and injustice.
