R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The knowledge of a life well lived may temper the
profound sadness that the passing of Jimmie L. Rose of Fort Davis
brings to all who loved this esteemed gentleman; and
WHEREAS, Born in Monahans on November 27, 1944, he died on
March 24, 2005, at the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rose graduated from Odessa Permian High School
in 1963 and served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy; and
WHEREAS, A longtime Midland resident, he was employed with
Union Oil of California for more than 30 years, serving as the
company's district land manager, and he was a member of the Permian
Basin Landman's Association; and
WHEREAS, Passionate about astronomy, Mr. Rose had his own
observatory and helped others build observatories for themselves;
when he retired to Fort Davis, he was able to further enjoy his
avocation by volunteering with the nearby McDonald Observatory; and
WHEREAS, Jim Rose had a positive impact on the lives of
countless individuals, and he will long be remembered with love and
affection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmie L. Rose and
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
Vie Rose; to his daughter, Allison Rose; to his granddaughters,
Natalie and Katy; to his brother, Richard Rose, and his wife, Jan;
to his sister, Patsy Rose; to his niece, Lindsey Rose; and to his
other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jimmie L.
Rose.
