R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In commemoration of their golden wedding anniversary, Pete and Violet Hammond of Midland renewed their wedding vows on April 2, 2005, in Crane; and WHEREAS, Adding an additional happy note to the event, the ceremony also honored the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. Hammond's brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Elizabeth; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hammond and the former Violet Gresham began their journey together as husband and wife when they pledged their mutual love on April 2, 1955, at Freewill Baptist Church in Midland; and WHEREAS, Through the years, their enduring union has been blessed with a treasured family, including four children, Charley, Marty, and Jay Hammond, and Ruth Harbin, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, The Hammonds previously lived in Snyder, where they owned and operated Canyon Sandblasting, before they moved back to Midland in 1994; and WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have shared the myriad blessings and challenges of marriage and parenthood, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring them on this significant milestone in their life together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby warmly congratulate Pete and Violet Hammond on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hammond as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
