R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on April 7, 2005, Harold and Anita Small of Jacksonville marked this significant event in their long and happy union; and WHEREAS, Mr. Small met the former Anita Joy Box at Jacksonville College in 1953, and the loving couple were married on April 7, 1955, in the Old Main Chapel at Jacksonville College; and WHEREAS, Currently pastoring at Mount Selman Baptist Church, Mr. Small is retired from Jacksonville College, where he held a distinguished career as an English teacher that spanned more than three decades, during which time he was also serving the church; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Small, in addition to being a devoted wife and mother, held a notable 33-year tenure in an administrative post with the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville; and WHEREAS, Over the five decades of their marriage, the Smalls have been blessed with a loving family that includes their sons and daughters-in-law, Hal and Fran Small, and Keith and Rhonda Small and their six beloved grandchildren, Eric, Jeneth, Jordan, Lauren, Jessika, and Shawn; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Small have shared their faith as well as their love for one another throughout the years, and their enduring marriage continues to serve as an inspiration to all who are privileged to know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Harold and Anita Small on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Smalls as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
