R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Stony Point High School SkillsUSA students earned
superior ratings in four projects at the state competition, and the
Technology Preparations Showcase team won a first-place gold medal
and trophy; and
WHEREAS, Superior ratings were given to Brian Jones for
advertising design and Tyler Kapper for web page design; Matthew
Renegar participated in advertising design-technical illustration
and received a trophy and a copy of 3D Studio MAX from Teaching
Systems, Inc., a prize valued at $3,000; Gary Fondel won an
architectural drafting gold medal in the civil engineering design
competition; and
WHEREAS, Winning a first-place gold medal and trophy were
members of the Technology Preparations Showcase team: Holly
Templeton, David Bak, and Amy Stephens; this summer, they will go to
Kansas City, Missouri, to participate in the national competition;
and
WHEREAS, Ably guided by SkillsUSA head advisor David Smyth
and advisors Barbara Alford, Pamela Dishberger, and Ricardo Olvera,
these outstanding young scholars possess some of the best and
brightest minds in the Lone Star State, and they undoubtedly have
rewarding futures ahead of them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the SkillsUSA students from Stony Point
High School for earning superior ratings in four projects at the
state competition and the Technology Preparations Showcase team for
earning a first-place gold medal and trophy and extend to these
students best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Stony Point High School as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
