R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Convoy of Hope is hosting an outreach in San Antonio on May 21, 2005, and this occasion provides an apt opportunity to recognize this notable organization for the invaluable services it provides families in need across the globe; and WHEREAS, Based in Springfield, Missouri, Convoy of Hope serves communities in the United States and around the world by distributing food to people in need, providing disaster relief, building supply lines, and conducting outreaches that include such activities as job and health fairs; to date, it has distributed more than 20 million pounds of food to more than two million people, responded to catastrophes in 30 countries, and mobilized over 100,000 volunteers; and WHEREAS, In San Antonio, 30,000 pounds of food will be distributed, and residents may take advantage of free medical and dental care, clothing, haircuts, and job placement services; moreover, live music, refreshments, and children's activities will no doubt provide enjoyment for all attendees; and WHEREAS, With the help of area businesses, churches, and community agencies, the Convoy of Hope's San Antonio outreach is sure to make a positive difference in the lives of countless Texans, and it is a pleasure to recognize this organization for its inspiring work in this country and throughout the world; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the May 21 Convoy of Hope outreach for their endeavors in behalf of the San Antonio community and extend to them sincere best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
