H.R. No. 1284


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Iowa Park teen Shawn Hutchinson has earned the 2005 Jefferson Award for Outstanding Community Service and will travel to our nation's capital in June to compete with others from throughout the country at the event being sponsored by the National Institute of Public Service; and WHEREAS, A junior at Iowa Park High School, Mr. Hutchinson organized and motivated some 175 volunteers to clean up the local Highland Cemetery; in addition to painting the cemetery's fences, the group pulled weeds and cleared high grasses from the grounds as part of the beautification project; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hutchinson, who began volunteering about five years ago, has demonstrated eagerness and thoughtfulness in all of his charitable endeavors; he is an asset to his community, as well as a source of pride to his parents, Tim and Angie Hutchinson, and to his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Shawn Hutchinson for winning the 2005 Jefferson Award for Outstanding Community Service, commend him for his steadfast commitment to volunteerism, and wish him well at the next level of competition; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hutchinson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
