H.R. No. 1327
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the fine men and
women in the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless
dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the
benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and
WHEREAS, These gallant individuals willingly risk their
lives each day in order to ensure domestic tranquility and protect
the lives of others, earning the respect and admiration of their
peers and the greater community; and
WHEREAS, Border Patrol Agent Susan Lynn Williams Rodriguez of
the United States Border Patrol exemplified in her personal and
professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, integrity,
and unwavering dedication; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her seven years on the force, her record
was one of meritorious service, loyalty, personal bravery, and
self-sacrifice consistent with the high ideals of the law
enforcement profession; and
WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on July 7, 1998, her
untimely death was a tragic loss to her family, to her fellow peace
officers, and to the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Her legacy of heroic dedication and self-sacrifice
will endure and continue to be a source of inspiration to those who
follow in a difficult but essential profession; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Border Patrol Agent
Susan Lynn Williams Rodriguez of the United States Border Patrol
and extend deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and fellow
officers; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in the memory of
Border Patrol Agent Susan Lynn Williams Rodriguez.
