H.R. No. 1342
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who react quickly and appropriately in
emergencies are truly deserving of our admiration and gratitude,
and Kyle Stacy of Jacksonville is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, An eighth-grader in Darvin Hooker's health class at
Jacksonville Middle School, Mr. Stacy put lifesaving techniques he
had recently been taught to good use on December 23, 2004, when he
saved a woman from choking; and
WHEREAS, Drawing on knowledge acquired in a CPR training
class taught by Jamie Maddox, Mr. Stacy quickly went to the woman's
aid and performed the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge a trapped food
particle, and his presence of mind and clear-headed competence were
instrumental in the quick resolution of a dangerous situation; and
WHEREAS, In acting swiftly and correctly during a crisis,
Mr. Stacy surely averted a terrible tragedy and showed himself to
be a caring member of his community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Kyle Stacy of Jacksonville for his actions
in an emergency and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Stacy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
